Bakthang Falls:
The first of the three point local sightseeing. This small water fall is located about 20 minutes drive from Gangtok enroute to Tashi View Point, you can take about 10 minutes stop to enjoy the falls here.

 
     
 

Tashi View Point.
The next point after Bakhthang falls is about 8Kms drive from Gangtok town, Tashi View Point offers a breathtaking view of the Mt. Khanchenjunga and its ranges. Recommended for an early morning visit. You can witness an early morning sunrise amidst the majestic peaks sipping a hot coffee from the nearby cafeteria.

 
     
 

Ganesh Tok.
On the way back from Tashi View Point , is the last of the three point sightseeings. Located on the top of the hill about 7 Kms from Gangtok town, a small Hindu temple of Ganesh also has a view point that provides a panoramic view of Gangtok town.

 
     
 

Himalayan Zoological Park: Located just adjacent to Ganesh Tok, Himalayan Zoological Park or Bulbuley is a semi natural habitat the houses Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Spotted Deer, beers and several other Himalayan fauna.

 
     
 

Hanuman Tok:
About 11 Kms above Gangtok Town, Hanuman Tok is a Hindu temple of Lord Hanuman situated at an altitude of 7000ft. Being the highest point around Gangtok, it offers a majestic views of Mt Kanchenjunga and its ranges.

 
     
 

Enchey Monastery
Located about 3 kilometers above Gangtok town, Enchey Monastery is an important seat of the Nyingma order, the Enchey Monastery meaning the Solitary temple, was originally built with the solace that no other construction would be allowed near it is built on the site blessed by Lama Druptob Karpo, a tantric master known for his flying powers. This 200-year-old Monastery has in its premises images of god, goddesses and other religious objects.

 
     
 

Flower Exhibition Centre
Located at an enchanting Ridge Park, close to White Hall, just below the Palace. This is popular sightseeing point displaying variety of Orchids and and other ornamental Himalayan Fauna. Timing: 10:00 to 4:00.

 
     
 

Hurr Hurray Dara
Located near Sikkim Legislative Assembly, an easy walk from MG Marg will lead you to Hur Hurray Dara. A small view point amidst peaceful surroundings offers breathtaking views of surrounding valleys and gorges. An easy escapade from city bustles.

 
     
 

Do-Drul Chorten ( Stupa)
Located amidst a peaceful surroundings near Deorali, Do-Drul Chorten was built by Trulshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 1940s. Inside this stupa, there are complete mandala sets of Dorjee Phurba (Bajra Kilaya), a set of Kan-gyur relics ( Holy Books), complete 'Zung'( mantras) and other religious objects. The Chorten is surrounded by Chorten Lakhang, where there are two huge statues of Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava).

 
     
 

Directorate of Handloom and Handicraftstre/ Cottage Industries About 1 Kilometer above Gangtok, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms was started during the time of the Chogyals of Sikkim, to protect and propagate the craft and skills of local and village artisans. You will find variety of traditional handcrafts, furniture, handlooms carpets and other products which can be taken as souvenirs from Sikkim Closed on Sundays, all government holidays, second Saturdays

 
     
 

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology
Also located close to Dro dul Chorten at Deorali , the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is one of the most prestigious depository of Tibetan literature, rare manuscripts, paintings, thangkas, statues and religious objects and other works of art and history. It is renowned worldwide as a centre for study of Buddhist philosophy and religion. A brain child of late Chogyal of Sikkim, Palden Thondup Namgyal Timings 10:00 am to 4 pm every day.

 
     
 

Gangtok Ropeway
20 minutes of thrilling ride from Deorali to Tashiling and back provides a breathtaking bird’s eye view of Gangtok town. The Ropeway has 3 terminals – Deorali, Namnang and Tashiling.A usual boarding point is Deorali and Namnang. The tariffs for adult is Rs 50 and Child is Rs.30.Timings: 10 am to 5:00 pm.

 
     
 

Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre
About 45 minutes drive from Gangtok along some of the prettiest areas around,Takes you to Rumtek. Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre is the most important seat of Kagyukpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. The Centre houses some of the worlds most important religious scriptures and rare objects.

 
     
 

Shanti viewpoint
On the way back from Rumtek, you take a brief stop at Shanti View point. An enchanting viewpoint that offers magnificent panorama of Gangtok town.

 
     
 

Botanical Garden
Very close by to Rumtek Monastery, and maintained by the parks and Gardens unit of the Forest Department of the Government of Sikkim, the Garden is an enchanting and soothing experience among the lush green vegetation, rare plants and trees and certain species of Himalayan flowers and Orchids.

 
     
 

Tshangu Lake
About two and half hours drive (40 kms) from Gangtok through rugged and steep alpine terrain will bring you to prestine Tshangu Lake. Situated at an altitude of 12,400 ft, this lake is considered as one of the most holy lakes of Sikkim.. The lake is bout 1 km. long and oval in shape, 50ft. Deep. About 1 hour stoppage at this lake will allow you to experience enjoyable yak rides to the other side of the lake. You can also hire snow boots, jackets and gloves from here if you are heading for Nathula or Baba Mandir.

 
     
 

Nathula Pass:
About 13 Kms drive higher up the mountains passing through couple of army check posts will bring you to Nathula. Located at the altitude of 14,400 ft, Nathula marks the international border between India and China in the Tibetan Plateau. Nathula is one of the highest motorable roads.after you board off the vehicle, you will have to take a slight walk through the road and then the flight of stairs lead you to the pinnacle of Indian post.. Just a line of Barbed wire fence demarket the international border between two Asian giants. On the border you wil have an opportunity to shake hands and even take picture with Chinese army. Little below the Indian post, Indian army runs a cafetaria where relish hot pakoras, tea and snacks. There is also a telephone booth for you to call home from 14,400 ft. On the way back, don't forget to bring back a Certificate of Visit with your photograph at 14,400 feet which the Indian army provides on the payment of Rs75

 
     
 

Baba Harbhajan Temple or Baba Mandir:
On your way back from Nathula, you take a short diversion after about five kms decent to visita Baba Mandir. Builtin memory of Captain Harbhajan Singh, who myseriously vanished from the camp while on duty.The fellow soldiers believe that he is still on guard and is omnipresent.
